I was sitting bored in front of my laptop and decided to do a weird experiment with an old Pinterest business account I had. The account was unused for a long time, and I had nearly zero profile views.

My experiment was to re-pin 500 random and popular pins from others and see what would happen. As you can see below, the results totally blew my mind.

I went from zero to 60,000 impressions in a day. Two days later, I pinned another 500 pins and ended the week with more than 300,000 impressions!

Please note that this was an old unused account and I just randomly re-pinned around 1000 pins by others, and these were the results. Amazing right!

Note: The Pinterest’s algorithm has changed since then. You do not get views for pinning content from others now. We have to create and post our own content to get profile views.

Why I told you about this experiment was to show you how powerful Pinterest is as a marketing platform. In my opinion, there is no better platform to drive fast traffic to your blog than Pinterest. I love Pinterest as a marketing platform, to be honest. I highly recommend every blogger to focus heavily on Pinterest marketing at the beginning stages of their journey.

Pro Tip: According to Pinterest, 85% of Pinterest usage occurs on mobile devices. Make sure that the theme you use, and your blog are optimized for mobile.

How to Succeed in Driving Pinterest Traffic?

Consistency is the key to success with Pinterest Marketing. If you can pin 10-20 new pins every day continuously for 3 months, you will be amazed by the amount of traffic you could drive.

You might not find results at the beginning. And it might feel like you are making creatives every day without any results.

But if you can overcome this feeling and continue pinning 10 fresh pins per day for 3 months, you are sure to get amazing results.

Few things to keep in mind while creating pins are:

  • Add a relevant, catchy, and keyword-rich title.
  • Add a descriptive keyword-rich pin description. You can try to add some hashtags as well (1-3 max). Do not stuff the keywords one after the another. Try to tell a story through the pin description.
  • Add your destination link correctly.
  •  Make your pins extremely attractive and readable – it’s the most important success factor.
  • Use large fonts in your pins to make the text easily readable.
  • Create multiple pins for each of the blog posts.
  • Try to add vector graphics to your pins.

These are few pins that we have created for marketing this guide on Pinterest:

Pro Tip: Over 2 billion monthly searches occur on Pinterest monthly. Make your pins visually attractive to stand out from the competition. Include catchy titles, text, and clear fonts in your pins.

Here are some bonus Pinterest tips that you will find really interesting:

  • Pinterest Trends is a platform that you should look into while crafting your pins. Pinterest Trends provide the topics that are trending in a particular country at the time. You can include these keywords while writing your pin titles and pin descriptions.
  • Add hashtags in your pin description. Whenever you are writing pin descriptions, add hashtags, but limit them to 1-3 hashtags. Make sure that you do not stuff many hashtags in the description, that only brings poor results. Adding around 3 relevant hashtags boost the visibility of your pins.
  • Try to add pins to boards with a title that matches the pin title. For example, if your post is “How To Lose Weight”, then pinning it on a board named “Weight Loss” would improve the pin visibility over pinning it on a board named “Health Tips” or “Health and Fitness”. Try to create very niche boards and add relevant pins to them to improve the pin discoverability.
  • Try to create video pins. Video pins are a relatively newer feature and is getting a lot of traction recently. While creating video pins, focus on the following important things: Start the video with a title that hooks the viewer. Rather than using an audio overlay, try to tell the story through text overlay as most Pinterest visitors are adjusted to taking in visual information than audio information. Use a very catchy cover image that tells the viewers what the video is about. Optimize the pin SEO by adding relevant titles, descriptions, hashtags, etc.
  • Make use of Pinterest Audience Insights to generate blog post ideas and pin ideas. The audience insight tool provides a detailed overview of what your audience likes and high affinity keywords that are likely to perform well with the present audience. This is a powerful tool to generate content ideas while preparing for creating the next blog posts.
  • Make use of a Pinterest Scheduler tool to make the pinning easier. With a scheduler tool, you can get more insights on your pins and can schedule the pins for the time with the highest link click rates. Tailwind & Buffer are popular scheduling and analytics tools for Pinterest.
